Hamilton Company
HPLC & GC Syringes
Hamilton Company manufactures a complete range of HPLC and GC syringes for the three HPLC injection methods, namely: partial loop filling, complete loop filling, and reverse loop filling by the aspiration technique. Syringes are offered for use on every major manufacturer's automated HPLC system worldwide, as well as a complete selection of syringes for manual injection valves. Whatever your HPLC application, Hamilton has a solution. For complete catalog information visit: www.hamiltoncomp.com

Enhanced Accuracy and Precision

Partial Loop Filling Technique

This technique conserves sample and provides flexibility in the choice of sample volumes to be loaded into the injection valve without changing loops. To achieve the best in accuracy and precision using this sample loading method, choose a syringe with a total volume of 10 to 80% of your sample injection volume. For example:

Sample Injection Volume Total Loop Volume Recommended Syringe Volume
0.25 µL 2 µL 2.5 µL
0.5 µL 2 µL 2.5 µL
1.0 µL 2 µL 2.5 µL
2.0 µL 5 µL 5 µL
5.0 µL 10 µL 10 µL
10.0 µL 20 µL 25 µL
20.0 µL 50 µL 50 µL

Complete Loop and Reverse Loop
Filling Techniques

Complete loop and reverse loop filling techniques are typically used when sample injection volumes do not often change and when sample conservation is not critical. To vary the amount of sample loaded, different volume loops must be installed. Hamilton syringes are used as precision measuring instruments to optimize sample loading and minimize the amount of sample wasted.

To meet the need for a wide range of sample injection volumes and loop sizes, Hamilton has developed the following syringe models optimized for HPLC injection techniques and valves:

MICROLITER™ Syringes
The industry standard for liquid syringes!

600 and 700 Series syringes with total volumes of 2.5 to 500 µL.

GASTIGHT® Syringes
The syringes with TEFLON®-tipped plungers!

1700, 1800, and 1000 Series syringes with total volumes of 10 µL to 10 mL.

Optimized Needle Design

Autosampler syringes have a number of different syringe terminations optimized for use on specific manufacturer's instruments.

To be assured of the correct syringe and needle specification, select your syringe based on the manufacturer and model of your instrument.

For manual injection techniques, use only blunt needle (point style 3) syringes to avoid damaging the stator face of typical rotor/stator injection valves.
